Study of Surah Al Hijr

Surah Al-Hijr (15:1-5) opens with a declaration of the Quran's divine origin, warns the disbelievers about their rejection of the truth, and explains that punishment is decreed for a specific, unchangeable time. These verses are generally considered to have been revealed in Makkah to strengthen the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) during a time of intense mockery and opposition.
Explanation of Ayat 1–5
The initial verses of Surah Al-Hijr introduce the Quran as a divinely revealed text. They warn disbelievers of future regret and instruct the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) to allow them to pursue worldly desires and false hopes, noting they will eventually understand the consequences. The verses emphasize that divine punishment for communities follows a predetermined time that cannot be altered.
These verses highlight the Quran's divine authority, the futility of worldly distractions, the certainty of divine judgment on a set timeline, and offer reassurance to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) regarding the opposition.
